Context
Highland Law provides legal services to banks, credit unions, and private lending institutions, with a focus on commercial and multifamily real estate financing. Our primary service involves meticulously reviewing the organizational documents of borrower entities—primarily LLCs, but also corporations and partnerships.
This review process encompasses:
- Articles of Organization/Incorporation
- LLC Operating Agreements
- Bylaws
- Partnership Agreements
Our primary deliverable is a report identifying an appropriate borrower signature block for the loan documents and highlighting any issues or discrepancies that must be addressed. We leverage advanced document automation systems to enhance the efficiency of preparing these entity review reports.

Required Qualifications
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to document review is essential. This is the single most important qualification for this role.
- Microsoft Word: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Paralegal Certificate: Required.
- California Resident: Must be a current resident of the state of California.
- Cover Letter: Applicants must submit a cover letter that (1) explains why you are interested in this specific role, (2) describes your experience, if any, reviewing LLC operating agreements or similar organizational documents, and (3) provides any further background or information you would like us to consider.
Preferred: Prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, specifically reviewing LLC and corporate organizational documents.
You will not be considered for this position unless you meet all of the required qualifications listed above and submit a cover letter that addresses the three specific points.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting compensation is in the range of $30 to $35 per hour, depending on background and experience. There will be an initial three-month introductory period. Beginning on the first day of the month following successful completion of the introductory period, you will be eligible for the following:
- Compensation increases based on demonstrated performance and expanded responsibilities.
- A monthly contribution toward your health insurance coverage.
- Participation in the company’s SIMPLE IRA retirement plan.
- Paid time off and holiday pay per company policies.
Responsibilities
- Review borrower organizational documents to identify legal issues or shortcomings and compose a recommended borrower signature block for loan documents.
- Prepare an entity review report for the client, outlining the results of the review, including a recommended signature block.
- Communicate directly with clients to request additional documents, provide status updates, and respond to questions and concerns.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of automated workflow processes used in order assignment, report preparation and document review.
- Utilize Microsoft Word and Acrobat for memo preparation, Outlook for email communications, and Teams for internal messaging.
