Patent Prosecution IP Paralegal Location: Chicago, IL
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 base salary
A leading law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced
Patent Prosecution IP Paralegal to join its Intellectual Property practice. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work with a dynamic team supporting domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file U.S. and PCT patent applications, responses, and formal documents with the USPTO and international patent offices
- Manage patent portfolios, including docketing deadlines and tracking filings across jurisdictions
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and foreign associates to ensure timely and accurate filings
- Review and analyze patent office communications and assist with drafting responses
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with firm and client procedures
- Conduct research and compile information related to patent prosecution and IP strategy
- Assist with billing and time entry related to IP matters
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in patent prosecution, preferably in a law firm setting
- Strong knowledge of USPTO procedures and international patent filing requirements
- Proficiency in IP docketing systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent education preferred
Additional Information: Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
