Salary Range: $235,000 - $390,000 annually
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Patent Attorney to join a growing Life Sciences Patent Prosecution and Counseling practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background combined with patent prosecution experience within a law firm environment.
Candidates should possess at least 3 years of patent law experience, although candidates with fewer years of experience and exceptional qualifications may also be considered. A Ph.D. is preferred, or an M.S. with significant research experience, in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience with medical technology, artificial intelligence, and/or biotech or medical devices is considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage client relationships and patent portfolios within the life sciences sector.
- Conduct prior art searches, patentability analyses, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
- Prepare responses to USPTO office actions and participate in post-grant proceedings.
- Provide IP counseling and litigation support.
- Conduct IP due diligence for financings, mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions.
- Train and mentor junior patent agents and attorneys.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex intellectual property matters.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Registered Patent Attorney with the USPTO.
- Minimum 3 years of law firm experience in patent prosecution and counseling.
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Life Sciences or related field.
- Strong technical, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology and related disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in team environments.
