Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal/Case Manager to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing legal cases across multiple practice areas, including estate, contract law, labor and employment, housing, torts and litigation. Your expertise will support attorneys by conducting thorough legal research, drafting documents, managing case files, and ensuring smooth case progression from inception to resolution. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your legal skills within a collaborative and fast-paced environment committed to excellence. The candidate will need to work on site several days a week to attend meetings, receive supervision and follow-up on pending tasks. Additional working hours may be required from time to time.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case management by organizing and maintaining electronic legal files using document and calendar management systems.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools to support case strategies across various practice areas.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage document review processes and perform data entry tasks to ensure accuracy in case databases.
- Interview clients, witnesses, and stakeholders to gather pertinent information for case development while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Support litigation activities through document organization, filing court documents electronically or physically, and coordinating deadlines.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, preparing reports, transcribing recordings, and performing general clerical duties to facilitate efficient office operations.
Requirements
- Proven paralegal experience or studies. Law student applications are welcomed. In such case, evidence of a 3.00 GPA and classes in civil procedure, evidence and legal research and writting are required.
- Strong legal research skills using Westlaw and LexisNexis platforms; ability to synthesize complex information clearly.
- Experience with legal case management software or ability to learn quickly and efficiently the use of case management tools; proficient in document review and management systems.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents with attention to detail; proofreading and transcription abilities are essential.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- Effective interviewing techniques coupled with professional phone etiquette for client interactions.
- Knowledge of project management principles to coordinate tasks efficiently across teams.
- Readiness to learn administrative tasks to support a busy law office environment; familiarity with filing procedures and data entry protocols is preferred.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to follow directions without constant supervision.
- Excellent time management skills.
