Patent Attorney
Patent Attorney - REMOTE - BOB NEEDED
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, client-focused Patent Attorney to join our remote legal team. The successful candidate will provide strategic patent counseling, lead patent prosecution and support patent litigation matters, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across a range of technologies. This role requires strong technical background, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. - Draft and review patent-related documents such as patentability opinions, freedom-to-operate analyses, claim charts, licensing agreements, and assignment documents.
- Lead and support patent litigation matters: prepare pleadings, motions, discovery responses, infringement and invalidity contentions, and participate in claim construction and trial preparation.
- Coordinate with outside counsel, expert witnesses, and internal technical teams to develop litigation strategy and case budgets.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, enforcement, and risk mitigation.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on patent law developments, USPTO practice, and relevant case law.
- Maintain docketing and matter management, ensure timely responses to deadlines, and supervise paralegals and junior attorneys when applicable.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and reliable, high-quality legal work.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (active USPTO registration required).
- Degree in a technical or scientific field (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.) or equivalent technical background that enables understanding of complex technologies.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in patent law with demonstrable experience in both patent prosecution and patent litigation; experience as a Patent Attorney or Attorney handling patent litigation strongly preferred.
- Proven skills in patent drafting, claim construction, motion practice, discovery management, and trial support.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience counseling clients and managing client expectations remotely.
- Experience with IP management systems, docketing tools, and virtual collaboration platforms; ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a fully remote environment; willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings or court appearances.
- For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
