This is an outstanding opportunity within a well-established, fast-growing life-sciences company. Currently we are in need of an experienced, senior IP counsel for this in-house leadership role. This is a strategic management position wherein you will have responsibility for an internal team of paralegals, patent agents, and patent attorneys within an expanding R&D driven company. You will have responsibilities relating to highly innovative new patent families that are of great importance to the company.
More specifically, you will deal with executives from various disciplines and be responsible for internal guidance regarding all aspects of patent portfolio issues. This includes supporting the following functional areas: business development, research collaborations, acquisitions, licensing and contract negotiations, due diligence, competitive landscape assessments, patentability and freedom to operate opinions, patent litigation support, patent portfolio strategy, internal and external counsel management relating to patent prosecution, advising R&D on issues relating to patentability, provide C-Suite presentations, etc.
Qualifications:
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in patent law with (preferably) at least 5 years of in-house experience in pharmaceuticals or biotech
- Strong expertise pertaining to US and international patent portfolio development
- Preferably a graduate degree in life sciences
- Expertise in small molecule chemistry a must (e.g., organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, etc.)
- JD, state bar, USPTO license
